5.1 Surround Sound Encoder (1TH-SSAE)

RadioScape’s Audio Encoder products deliver the full compliment of standards and protocols, the latest being the 5.1 Surround sound encoder housed in the fusion HWP. With the 1U encoder located at a remote studio or central mux site, it fits in seamlessly with RadioScape’s architecture, providing remote monitoring/configuration & seamless switching.

RadioScape has extended its Encoder range to deliver a fully compliant 5.1 capability, thus ensuring that when individual Radio Stations or Ensemble operators need to add this stunning enhancement, it will be readily available for them.

The 1U encoder integrates completely with the full range of RadioScape Multiplexes (Broadcast, RTSU and PMUX) outputting RadioScape IP or EDI protocols for ease of use and delivering a fully separated but integrated 6 channel signal that can be received and realized on suitably equipped (standard) receiver, amplifier, speaker systems.

The resultant sound "image" encircles the listener in a 2D, 360° horizontal plane.

Almost a standard feature of Home Cinema systems and Audio formats on DVD and Blue Ray, the standard delivers a wide range of advantages to broadcasters wishing to differentiate their Drama and Music services from simple Stereo.

Its operation is a simple and logical extension of the two channel units, with a similar range of monitoring, reporting and alarm functionality whether it is centrally located at the multiplex, or at a distant Studio with RadioScape IP or EDI connectivity. The 1H-SSAE can additionally be supplied with a DAB or DAB+ encoder as a standby or parallel service.5.1 Decoder.

5.1 Decoder

A suitable optional 5.1 Decoder application (S-SSAD) is available for the range of RadioScape Broadcast monitors, which will output the 6 channels of audio to one of the many suitable USB connected amplifiers that are required to feed a suitable 6 way speaker system:

• Centre (C)
• Front left (FL)
• Front right (FR)
• Surround left (SL)
• Sub Woofer (SW or LFE)

These elements can be sourced from high street AV outlets, specialist Hi Fi dealers or numerous well known Internet suppliers.
